![]() Then, I slowly built up a sort of boxy frame around the LED panel. I mounted the wired-up LEDs - six of them - into the holes and secured them with some hot glue. I planned to use these LEDs as the light source for my worklamps.įirst, I drilled 6 holes in a piece of styrene about an inch square in area. I had one of those cheap 24-LED lights from Harbor Freight, and I spent the weekend de-soldering them from their existing board and wiring them up individually. To that end, I went to the local hobby store and purchased some styrene (for the first time!) and some aluminum rods. I mentioned earlier that I wanted to make some scaled-down worklamps to really make the Marker seem extra huge. Re: Dead Space "Black Marker" + various scratch-built ancillary props ![]() ![]() I'm thinking of a Sculpey-carved "rock" base with some small, scaled down worklights for illumination - I want to give the impression that this Marker has just been found during a mining operation. Seen from the bottom, it looks pretty gnarly!Īnyway, since I'm nearing completion on the Marker itself, I figured it's time to think up a diorama/scene to put it in. After that, I'll resin and rondo the marker itself before deciding on a finish. (I probably superglued my fingers together 8 times so far.) Fortunately, I only have the top quarter left to finish. There are a TON of joints, and a lot of the time the cardstock is under some peculiar stresses. This was a while ago, but eventually I got around to building the Marker. It was a mess, but i did some tweaking and refining until i got a decent result: So, after extracting the game model, I did some hoop-jumping with file formats and finally got it imported into pepakura designer. ![]() I've seen papercraft markers that people have built before, but they tended to be based on smoothed models that didn't have the ribbing or detail of the actual in-game full-sized versions. First off, a little introduction: Dead Space is a horror video game series, and one of its central elements is that certain alien artifacts, called Markers, have the power to reanimate dead tissue. ![]()
